~Reflection on Simulation and Modeling

Today we learn about Simulation and modeling.

Actually, simulation and modeling are effective ways in how to attract student attention to study. It is because they are uniquely illustrating scientific concept with the use of high quality of multimedia that will enabling students to interact, reflect and develop their knowledge and understanding.

As a task, Dr Sadiah asked us to find a good simulation and modeling and present into the class.

My group chooses Water movement in plant and the simulation and Plant nutrition as the Modeling.

Then, we need to present our work to Dr Sadiah. Dr Sadiah gives her comment and advises to improve our work.

~Reflection on Data Logger

Today, we learn about Data Logger. This is new thing for me because this is my first time know about data logger. I’m really excited to learn about it.

As a task, Dr Sadiah asked us to carry out an experiment using data logger. My group carried out experiment about Biochemical Oxygen Demand (B.O.D). We use sensor D.O to measure values of dissolved oxygen. To calculate B.O.D value, we need to calculate the value of final D.O minus the value of initial D.O. The highest value of B.O.D shows that the highest polluted water.

Then, we need to present our work to Dr Sadiah. Dr Sadiah gives her comment and advises to improve our work.

Simposium Plant Physiology telah diadakan pada 13-14 October 2009 bertempat di Perkarangan Bangunan Canselori.

Simposium ini bertujuan untuk mempersembahkan hasil kajian yang telah kami lakukan untuk Subjek Plant Physiology TBF3023.

Kumpulan kami telah melakukan kajian berkenaan dengan “Indoor Plant”. Objektif kajian kami ialah untuk mengetahui kegunaan “indoor plant”, jenis “indoor plant” yang sering menjadi pilihan pemiliknya dan sebab terhadap pemilihan “indoor plant” tersebut.

~Reflection on E-portfolio

Today, we learnt about E-portfolio. Dr Sadiah taught us how to make an E-portfolio. As a task, we need to create our own E-portfolio. Dr Sadiah reminded us to choose a clear template to make sure that our Dr also reminded us not to change our template because all the gadgets will be missing. E-portfolio is easier to see by other peoples. Our E-portfolio consist will be evaluated by Dr Sadiah on week 14.

~Programme "Jom Besama Masuk Zoo"

Program "Jom Bersama Masuk Zoo" merupakan program anjuran Pelajar Semester Dua Sesi 2008/2009 di bawah Subjek TBZ 2033, Biodiversity and Evolution of Protista and Animalia. Program ini dijalankan dibawah kerjasama Sekolah Kluster Sultan Idris II.

Semasa program ini berlangsung, kami dikehendaki untuk memilih seekor haiwan dan mengenalpasti ciri-ciri istimewa yang terdapat pada haiwan tersebut. Kami dikehendaki untuk membentangkan hasil kerja kami kepada pelajar-pelajar Sekolah Kluster Sultan Idris II.

Kumpulan kami telah memilih "Malayan Sun Bear" sebagai haiwan kesukaan kami kerana tedapat beberapa ciri yang istimewa tentang haiwan tersebut.



Kami juga dikehendaki untuk membuat poster sebagai persediaan kami semasa pembentangan.



Selain itu, setiap kumpulan juga mendapat mentee masing-masing. Kumpulan Helarctos Malayanus.





Sebagai kenanagan, kami telah menyediakan "bookmark" untuk dihadiahkan kepada pelajar-pelajar sekolah tesebut.

~Reflection on Spreadsheet

Today, we learnt about Spreadsheet. At the beginning I don’t what means by the Spreadsheet. But after the lecturer taught us, I realized that actually spreadsheet as same the Microsoft Excel. The lecturer gave us one task for us to make our understood what have we learnt about the Spreadsheet.

The Spreadsheet has many benefits in teaching and learning process. The benefit from the Spreadsheet are save time, report are arrange orderly, more productive, the results are accurate and trusted, all work are stored, if got mistakes can be overcome easily.

~Reflection on Picasa

Our class was held in PTPM. At this time, we learn about Picasa. This is my first time use Picasa. We learnt how to edit pictures using Picasa. Actually, Picasa has various functions. We learnt how to crop the picture, make a video, collage, edit picture color and many more. Picasa also make a picture nicer.

~Reflection on Smart Board

We have learned about Smart Board from Miss Siti Shamsiah. Miss Siti teaches us how to use the Smart Board. She also wills us to try use the Smart Board. I’m so very excited because this is my first time using it. At the beginning, I think that it is very difficult to using it because we need to give our full attention. It seems also like to waste our time. But after when I have learned it more, it is quite interesting and I enjoy it.

We only use our finger to touch the screen. We can control computer applications, write note, pull up chart and images search the internet, plays video and save our work. Actually, using Smart Board in Learning and Teaching process is a good way in order to attract the student attention and focus on the lesson. So, the lesson not to be more boring.

In the other class, we get a few assignments. We need to do the assignments in group. We also install the Smart Board Software in our own laptop. Then, we need to present our work to Miss Siti. Miss Siti evaluates our work and gives her comment and helps us in improving our work.

~My Teaching Philosophy~

Education in its broadest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.

My teaching philosophy is important for me during learning process. I believe that learning is a lifelong process. Everyone is a learner. It’s all about the journey and not the destination. Life is more exciting and fulfilling when we are learning new things. I also believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a teacher to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk taking and invites a sharing ideas.

As an educator and a trainer who is quite fortunate to be in constant contact with the students, I constantly strive to make learning fun, interactive, encouraging, rewarding, and above all, purposeful. I learn that educators gain (as oppose to command) respect by giving due respect to people. To gain respect as an educator, one has to be genuinely convinced that everyone has special talents and that no one knows everything. Respect for the students and trainees should be manifested in our interactions with them. For example, I would constantly encourage, admire and praise volunteers who responded to questions in class.

To me, patronizing is a sin. In answering questions from students and trainees, I am never ashamed of saying a straight “I do not know”, or, “I am no expert in the area”. I find that such demeanor goes a long way towards encouraging an interactive environment and making the students and trainees feel comfortable during lectures. All students must be made aware of the moral obligations to fulfill in learning. I constantly strive to inculcate positive learning culture among students. I believe that engineering ethics should not just be confined to a subject, but should be the responsibility of all educators. I make a point of blending motivational elements and practical experience in my technical lectures as appropriate especially to fresh students.

I strongly believe that learning should create selfless people who have the interest of mankind at heart as opposed to those who learn for primarily for his own worldly and material gains. My ultimate goal is to create selfless and caring intellectuals with the insatiable desire to quest and disseminate knowledge and to equip them the capacity for life-long learning, as oppose to those who learn just to survive.
